Prerequisites for degree seeking students

As a degree seeking student you are enrolled in a programme for 2 years (or for some advanced Master's programmes 1 year) at the KU Leuven.
When you have fulfilled all the conditions you will receive a KU Leuven degree.

• Academic requirements: You will find these requirements specified in the tab Admission requirements in the official programme guide of the KU Leuven.
• Language requirements: Applicants enrolling for the first time at KU Leuven prove their English language proficiency by means of an IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge English Exam (CAE).
  • The minimum score required for IELTS is 7 (with no subscore under 6.5).
  • For the TOEFL internet-based test the minimum score is 94 (with no subscore under 22).
  • The minimum score required for the Cambridge English Exam (CAE) is 185 (with no subscore under 176).

  Applicants with a university degree or high school degree earned in Australia, English-speaking Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom or the USA are exempted from this requirement: the degree and transcripts suffice, provided they confirm that the entire study was completed in English.

  TIP! It is best to set the date for your language test well ahead of your application and submit the successful result of your test together with your application!

  For programmes taught in Dutch the formal requirement is a level of 5.
