When you’re applying for a job, it’s important to know the timeline. Knowing when you can start work is especially important if your previous employer let you go without giving notice or without giving any compensation for your time there. But how do you find out what dates are available? Let’s dig in!

If you’re looking for a job while already employed, it may be best to say that you’d need two weeks’ notice from your current employer and could start working for the new company after that. But, if you’re currently unemployed, it’s perfectly acceptable to say “I’m available immediately.“
And if you’re not sure when you can start, give the interviewer a general idea of when you’ll be able to begin working. For example, “I’m available either this week or next week,” or “I need about two weeks’ notice from my current employer and could start working for the new company after that.”
So, it’s not a job offer unless this question is followed by “We’d like to offer you the position.” You should therefore inform the interviewer if you would be able to start immediately, in two weeks, or if you’ll need a little more time. This is better rather than just giving them a definite date at this stage.
The reason for this is that it’s easier to reschedule a meeting than it is to change an employee’s start date. If you give them a specific date and they can’t accommodate you, they may have to go through the entire interview process again if they find someone else who can start on your preferred date.
The date available option is used when you’re applying for a job and want to give the employer an idea of your availability. The date should be listed as a range, such as “Between May 1 and September 15.”
This will help employers know that you’re flexible enough to work with them during this time period. If you’re applying for a job in which you’ll need to be able to work anytime within the week, for example, then listing just “8:00 AM – 5:00 PM” isn’t going to do your chances any favors.
If you’re applying for a position that requires you to work on weekends, then list the days of the week when you’re available. For example, if your schedule is flexible and allows for weekend work, then list both Friday and Saturday as options. You can also specify which days of the week you prefer to work so employers know they’re getting your best effort regardless of what day it is.
If you’re not sure what to write on your resume, then check out the job description. The employer’s office hours are likely listed in the job description and can be used as a reference point for when you should be available. You can also ask your recruiter or contact person at the company how they prefer applicants to list their availability.
The date availability is the date on which you are able to start working for the company. It is usually written in the third person and can be used to indicate a commitment between two parties.
For example, if a hiring manager asks you “Can you start on December 20?” that means you will be able to start working with them on the 20th.
You can also use the phrase “I am available on March 5th,” which means you are able to work for the company on that date. This is usually used when someone asks if you have any availability, or if they want to know when you’re free. For example, if your manager asks “Are you available next week?”
You can run across a job posting that requests people who are accessible right away when you are looking for employment. This basically means that the hiring manager must fill a position that is crucial to the day-to-day operations of their business.
If this applies to you, you might indicate on your resume that you are available right away. This gives recruiters plenty of time to organize their first day so that the onboarding procedure runs smoothly.
Here’s an example of how it can be written via email:
I am available immediately for the job you applied for. I would love to discuss this further and see if there is a way that we can work together on this. Please email me at cynthialonzo@yahoo.com with any questions or concerns you may have.
How do I respond to my availability?
As a job seeker, you have the option to respond to your availability with a date and time that works for you.
If you’re looking for work, it’s best to provide your availability as soon as possible. You don’t want to miss out on an opportunity because you weren’t able to respond quickly enough.
